Daunted by me deep despair.
When I sought out help from others,
Though they tried, it wasn’t there.
In myself, there was no solace.
I could never find relief.
Swallowed up by sick self-pity,
Mired down in unbelief.
Who on earth was there to help me?
Who could give me any hope?
Who could reach me in my darkness?
Who could teach me how to cope?
Finally, I returned to Jesus,
Crying out, I called His Name.
Falling on my face before Him,
That was when my Savior came.
Then and there, He gently touched me,
“Peace, be still” was His command,
As His perfect grace and mercy
Gave me hope and helped me stand.
Now, I know that God is with me.
I, no longer walk in fear.
I‘ve no need for other helpers,
For I know my Help is near! .
