Once filled with death and darkness
Lost in the blackest night
Then looking up, we saw a star
And oh, it shone so bright!
The darkest background sets the stage
For diamonds’ brilliant hue.
And Christ is such a contrast
To the sin in me and you.
We turned to Him and called His Name
And how our hearts took flight
From sadness, overwhelming joy;
From blindness into sight.
His light came in and flooded us
Just as the Father wills.
In us, His brightness came to dwell
Our lives His glory fills.
